OpenAI connection

Content owner: Quote Control product. Last reviewed: 23 August 2026.

Scope suggestions are optional. A company administrator can connect the company’s OpenAI project under Administration → Integrations.

  1. Create or choose an OpenAI project governed by the company.
  2. Create a project API key with the access needed for the configured scope model.
  3. Paste the key into Quote Control and choose Connect.
  4. Wait for Quote Control to verify it before the current credential is replaced.

The key is write-only. After connection, the application shows status and a masked suffix, not the credential. It is encrypted at rest. Replacing a working key is transactional: a failed verification leaves the current connection intact.

Choose Remove connection when the company no longer wants to use AI suggestions. Saved quotations and earlier run traces remain available. Create and Tidy scope become unavailable until another key is connected.

When an estimator requests a suggestion, the Quote Control server sends the selected engineer recommendations or customer scope to the company’s OpenAI project. The response returns to a review sheet and requires explicit human acceptance.

Quote Control does not expose the key to the browser or public documentation. Your company remains responsible for its OpenAI account, project access, billing and approved data-processing position.

Connecting, replacing or removing a key changes the current integration state; it does not publish a policy or control version. Saved quotations and earlier scope-generation traces remain unchanged.

Removing the connection prevents new Create scope and Tidy scope requests. It does not remove wording that a user previously reviewed and accepted into a quotation.
